A tragic and bizarre incident unfolded in Hyderabad’s Nacharam Industrial Area on Monday night, where a 45-year-old factory worker was brutally murdered over a minor argument regarding spilled chutney. The victim, Murali Krishna, was tortured for hours before being stabbed to death by a group of four individuals, including a minor, who had offered him a lift.
Details of the Horrific Incident
Murali Krishna, a resident of Uppal, was traveling home from LB Nagar when he was picked up by Mohammad Junaid (18), Sheikh Saifuddin (18), Ponna Manikanta (21), and a 16-year-old minor in their car. After picking up the victim, the group stopped for a late-night meal at a mobile tiffin center near the National Geophysical Research Institute (NGRI).
During the meal, Krishna accidentally spilled chutney onto one of the accused, which triggered an argument. The situation quickly escalated when Krishna allegedly used abusive language. Enraged by the incident, the four men forced Krishna back into the car and began to assault him.
Two-Hour Ordeal
For the next two hours, the group subjected Krishna to violent physical abuse, including burning him with cigarettes while repeatedly interrogating him about the incident. The men then drove towards an isolated area in Nacharam, where the situation took an even more violent turn.
According to the police, Junaid allegedly pulled out a knife and began stabbing Krishna multiple times. Despite his severe injuries, Krishna managed to escape from the car and attempted to flee. However, the assailants pursued him and ensured that he was dead before leaving the scene. Krishna’s lifeless body was discovered by locals around 5:40 am the next morning.
The Investigation and Arrests
Upon receiving the distress call from passersby, police teams quickly combed the area using CCTV footage and cell phone signal data. After a thorough investigation, the police were able to track down the accused on Tuesday, November 5, in Moula Ali.
The four individuals, including the minor, were arrested. The three adults-Junaid, Saifuddin, and Manikanta-have been remanded to judicial custody at Chanchalguda Prison, while the minor has been sent to a juvenile home. Police also recovered the car and the murder weapon based on the suspects’ confessions.
Public Outrage and Aftermath
The gruesome nature of the crime has left the city in shock, with residents and officials expressing their outrage over the extreme violence caused by such a trivial issue. “This is an appalling act of violence. A man’s life was lost over something as insignificant as spilled chutney. The brutality displayed by the accused is horrifying,” said a senior police official.
As the investigation continues, the police are working to uncover any further motives behind the murder and whether the accused were involved in any previous criminal activities.
In the meantime, Hyderabad’s residents are left grappling with the disturbing reality that even the most mundane of arguments can lead to such devastating outcomes. The police have vowed to take stringent action to ensure that justice is served for the victim, Murali Krishna.
