Anushka Sharma on Parenting, Discipline, and Family Routines: Lessons from Her Upbringing
2 min readAnushka Sharma recently spoke about having a disciplined household and how she and her husband plan to be strict parents. While interacting with actor-designer Masaba Matthai, Anushka revealed her army background. She said that the same has been helpful to establish everyday discipline for her in addition to fostering her children, Vamika and Akaay disciplined. She said that she had learned some valuable lessons in life from her parents especially her father, though they did not have to yell at her. For instance, if she was particular regarding the kind of foods, her father would not raise his voice, rather, he told her that when she is hungry she has no option other than to eat the kind of food prepared. Such experiences make one understand the struggles of their parents and also prepare them on how to bring up their children.
Anushka also talked about the contemporary methods of child-rearing and expressed how the Social media and more specifically Instagram can be a boon or a curse. While the internet offers easy access to parenting advise at the tip of a finger, it sometimes compounds the pressure the parent has to endure as a result of the joyous event of welcoming a new baby.
She also talked about how her sleep pattern has been affected by her daughter, Vamika. When Vamika was born, Anushka said she started going to bed early as her daughter had her dinner close to 5. 30pm at night, leaving her with nothing much to do. This habit that was once due to convenience today has developed into a custom if not a tradition for this family. She also pointed to improvements in health, such as getting better sleep, increased energy, and reduced head fogginess upon waking up.
This was only the second time that Anushka visited India after the birth of her son Akaay. She was last seen in the IPL in May the same year On the work front Anushka was last seen on the big screen in the Bollywood film Zero starring Shah Rukh Khan in 2018.
