Hyderabad Police Rescued 18-Year-Old Girl Locked in Hotel Room for 20 Days by Online Friend

An 18-year-old girl from Bhainsa town was saved for the ‘SHE Teams’ of the Hyderabad Police force after being confined in a hotel room for a total of 20 days. The victim was allegedly threatened and subsequently forced to go to Hyderabad by a 19-year-old engineering student with whom she had befriended online. He also made her stay in a hotel in Narayanaguda and confined her in the room when she arrived.
Still, the girl could inform the parents about where she was located using an instant messaging application. Feeling unsafe around the man, she immediately reported the issue to the “SHE Teams” a special branch of the Telangana Police formed dealing with the security of women and girls. The “SHE Teams” quickly acted, and with the help of the data received from the girl’s parents, they managed to trace her. They found the girl in the hotel in a locked room and the rescue operation was successful.
There was accused present at the scene, he was caught and arrested by the police and taken to jail. A case has been got registered against him under some sections of IPC section at Narayanagudi Police Station.
The ‘SHE Teams’ are a police unit that was formed by the Telangana Police to deal specifically with harassment, stalking, and the protection of women and girls. This was evident through their quick and efficient response to this case, thus proving their counterparts’ determination to ensure the vulnerable are safeguarded and the perpetrators are apprehended.
The said victim has been released to take her parents, while the accused has been charged in the court of law. This incident makes a good lesson pretty clear: The Internet can be a really dangerous place at times, and the police have an important job to do here.
