India’s Historic Day at Paris Paralympics: Nitesh Kumar’s Gold Medal Showdown and Sumit Antil’s Javelin Defense

The fifth day of Paris Paralympics 2024 looks to be one of the special days for India as many of its athletes are in the medal positions in few events. The focus is with para badminton today, where Indians have assured three podium finishes bringing smiles to what can be a day of unparalleled success for Indian contingent in paralympics.
As it has been seen in the para badminton men’s singles SL3 event, Nitesh Kumar will be up for a gold medal match against Daniel Bethell of Great Britain. This match is awaited with great enthusiasm as Nitesh is eyeing on the gold that will put India on high . Nitesh has been playing exceptionally well in this championship and a win here would definitely put Nitesh amongst the best para badminton players in the world. Also in the same event with him, Sukant Kadam is another one who is in focus to won the bronze medal.
But that’s not all the excitement there is to be had on this point. More so in the women’s singles SU5 event final, Thulasimathi Murgesan 22 years will take on China’s Yang Qiu Xia. Thulasimathi’s move and counter strategies will be put to the ultimate test in this match but, she has displayed determination and strength during the competition hence standing good chance of clinching the gold medal. In another big match, Suhas Yathiraj who was pipped to a gold in Tokyo will get another shot in the men’s singles SL4 Preliminary against France’s Mazur. There much anticipation on their bout from fans especially after they met once before when Suhas wanted little of it after losing to Prince to get the gold for the coming match.
Further, in the mixed doubles SH6 event India’s Sivarajan Solaimalai & Nithya Sre Sumathy Sivan will be fighting for the bronze medal. On the similar note, Manisha Ramadass will be up against Denmark’s Catherine Rosengren in the women’s singles SU5 bronze medal play-off where she will be eyeing to win another medal for the country.
