Key Takeaways from PM Modi’s US Visit: Quad Summit Highlights Strategic Unity Amid Rising China Tensions
2 min readPM Narendra Modi attended the Quad Summit, which was held in Wilmington, Delaware. It is a 3-day ongoing meeting, and he also met US President Joe Biden. The major takeaway from this event is that quadrupling is all about growth and not against anybody. They discussed that the Indo-Pacific is our shared priority, which is free, open, and inclusive of it. We need to take initiatives in other sectors like health security, climate change, and capacity building. Modi also said that it is the 6th Quad Leaders Summit, where the world is surrounded by conflicts and tensions.
They also discussed China’s aggressive behavior, which includes maritime claims, particularly in the East and South China Seas. It is so condemnable that the dangerous use of coast guard and maritime militia vessels disturbs other countries’ offshore. They focused on the major deliverables, which include the cancer moonshot, quad at-sea ship observer mission, Indo-Pacific logistics network pilot, and quad ports of the Future Partnership.
Narendra Modi also discussed the US-India relationship separately after the Quad meeting. He also thanked US President Joe Biden for returning the Indian antique objects, which were smuggled out of the country. There were 297 invaluable antiquities returned to India.
Modi and Biden discussed the Bangladesh situation, where the Hindus were facing lots of difficulties. Quad is an informal grouping between the United States, Japan, Australia, and India. It is mainly formed to discuss the free Indo-Pacific region, which needs to be free and open. It was formed in the year 2007 with a group of 3 members and later extended to 4 members, which is nothing but Australia.
