Naga Chaitanya, Samantha Slam Minister’s False Claims, Defend Dignity Amid Divorce Controversy

Addressing a recent controversy, Telugu movie actors Naga Chaitanya and Samantha Ruth Prabhu have opposed claims made by Telangana minister Konda Surekha witnessing the couple’s marital conflicts. The minister linked their divorce to Telangana leader KT Rama Rao (KTR), alleging that he had been tapping their phones and blackmailing them which is how the couple fell apart.

This was understandably sensational and thus grabbed a lot of media coverage as well as attention. That said, Naga Chaitanya and Samantha have come out in the open and categorically rejected all these allegations, which warrant addressing anyway, as being untrue and damaging.

Naga Chaitanya’s Firm Response

On the matter, Chaitanya added, “We didn’t take the decision to divorce lightly; it was a mutual decision reached after several discussions. Amicable would be the best word to describe the state of affairs between Samantha and me, mainly because we have differing aspirations in life and so we opted to say goodbye. It was important for us to move on in a way that we both deserved.”

The actor was angry at the fact that his personal issues were part of a political scandal. He stated: “People have always talked and gossiped, but I did not want to speak out because of Samantha and the families, for it is a very sensitive matter. However, what the Minister has said here is absolutely and utterly horrific and cannot be tolerated. Women are human beings and they should be revered rather than their personal life decisions made a tool in political issues.”

Samantha’s Strong Stand

Samantha, being a person who has spoken out for women and self-respect, did not spare herself as well. She too addressed the minister’s remarks and told her to not drag their names into political arguments. Samantha refused to accept that there was any political bias in their divorce – which was quite personal and not public at all.

Samantha in her remarks said that it is such a challenge for such women in this industry as the film one where they are being-objectivized. She stated, “To be a woman, to come out, work hard and survive in this industry and even make life decisions like marriage and divorce, such priorities and confidence isn’t easy. There was no issue of divorce in the sense that anyone interfered or even suggested such a thing. It’s sad to see our personal pain being used in such a disrespectful manner.

She equally underlined that these baseless allegations should not take away the love and respect that they have for each other even if they have chosen to part ways.

Minister Konda Surekha, Sorry Dear, You Can’t!

It all started when Konda Surekha met the media and said something that raised quite a stir. She accused KTR, the working president of the Telangna Rashtra Samiti TRS party, of being the cause of the marriage between Samantha and Naga Chaitanya ending. She accused KTR of more than just that; KTR had ears for actresses and snooped on their phones which allowed him to control them and which in turn caused their marriage break-up.

Such an allegation could not be left to go without a response not even from the ordinary citizens but even the political class including KTR himself. He denounced the comments by the minister saying they were a smear campaign against him. In fact, KTR has also served a defamatory legal notice on the minister and asked her to retract her unsubstantiated allegations against him.

Industry Support and Public Reaction

Equally, the Telugu film industry and fans have come to the rescue of the actors as they were quite angry over the unnecessary engagement of marital affairs into politics. Nagarjuna, the father of Naga Chaitanya also joined the bandwagon condemning the minister for the comments making such approaches, none of which is pertinent to her position. He said – ‘as a public figure you should be careful what you say.’ It is unacceptable to drag your family and even movie stars’ lives into this political warfare. ‘We expect more from the one who is in a responsible position, he added.’

Aggrieved at the break up of the marriage, both Naga Chaitanya and Samantha wish to turn the pages to a new chapter in their lives but gracefully. Post their divorce, many of Samantha’s fans have taken a stab at her ex-spouse Chaitanya and have wanted to be discreet about the two hating each other.

Many fans have echoed their appreciation for the couple after they boldly spoke out against and offered more than just protective defamation toward women considering such exploitation in society.

As the case continues regarding the disparaging comments, the public seems forgetful of more vivid updates. Nevertheless, one thing is obvious: both Naga Chaitanya and Samantha Ruth Prabhu do not want to keep trundling in dirt which soiled them from their marital lives within the confines of the nation.
