Jaipur/Sri Ganganagar: A disturbing case involving the alleged trafficking and repeated sexual assault of a 13-year-old girl in Rajasthan’s Sri Ganganagar district has triggered nationwide outrage, leading to swift police action, multiple arrests, and the demolition of properties allegedly linked to the crime. The case has reignited concerns over child safety, human trafficking, and crimes against women across the country.
According to Rajasthan Police, the minor girl went missing on June 18 after leaving her home. Her family later approached the police after she failed to return. During the investigation, officials traced the girl to a hotel in Sri Ganganagar, where she was rescued during a police raid conducted on June 23.
Investigation Reveals Disturbing Allegations
The police investigation alleges that an e-rickshaw driver took the girl after she went missing and later handed her over to individuals connected to local hotels. Investigators claim the victim was moved between multiple locations and was allegedly subjected to repeated sexual assault over several days.
The First Information Report (FIR) states that several hotel owners, managers, and other individuals were allegedly involved in facilitating the exploitation of the minor. The survivor also reportedly told investigators that she was forced to consume alcohol while being confined.
Authorities have emphasized that these allegations are part of an ongoing investigation, and every accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty by a court of law.
Fourteen Accused Arrested, SIT Leading Probe
Police have so far arrested 14 accused, including an e-rickshaw driver, hotel owner, hotel managers, employees, and several other suspects allegedly connected to the case. Officials confirmed that efforts are continuing to identify and apprehend additional individuals who may have been involved.
Given the seriousness of the allegations, Rajasthan Police constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) under senior police supervision. Investigators are examining CCTV footage, mobile phone records, digital evidence, forensic material, and witness statements to reconstruct the sequence of events and establish the role of each accused.
Illegal Hotels Face Bulldozer Action
As part of the administration’s response, the Sri Ganganagar district administration demolished three hotels allegedly connected to the case after officials cited violations of municipal building by-laws.
The demolished establishments reportedly include Hotel Khunger, Joy Inn, and Hotel Sapphire. Authorities clarified that the demolition was carried out under building regulation violations, while the criminal investigation into the alleged offences continues independently.
Senior police officials stated that no individual found involved in the crime would be spared and that strict legal action would be taken against all those responsible.
Public Anger and Political Reactions
The incident has sparked widespread protests across Sri Ganganagar, with residents demanding stronger laws, faster investigation, and stringent punishment for those found guilty. Political parties and social organizations have also called for enhanced protection for women and children and stricter action against human trafficking networks.
The case has once again highlighted the need for improved monitoring of hotels, stronger child protection mechanisms, and faster investigation of crimes involving minors.
Police Clarifies Viral Video Rumours
Amid widespread discussions on social media, Rajasthan Police also issued a clarification regarding a viral video showing a minor girl crying on a hospital bed. Officials confirmed that the video is not related to the Sri Ganganagar case and actually belongs to an incident from Hardoi, Uttar Pradesh. Police urged the public not to circulate misleading or unverified content and to rely only on official information.
Investigation Continues
Police officials have reiterated that the investigation remains active and that further arrests may follow as more evidence is examined. Authorities are continuing to collect technical evidence, verify digital records, and question witnesses to ensure a comprehensive investigation.
The case remains under close monitoring by senior police officers, while legal proceedings against the arrested accused are expected to continue in accordance with the law.
